Monika Osiecka
Rzeźbiarka i pisarka, absolwentka warszawskiej ASP, Pracowni Rzeźby Grzegorza Kowalskiego, w której w 1994 r. obroniła dyplom. Do rzeźby dochodziła poprzez lingwistyczne fascynacje Orientem i kulturą Włoch, gdzie spędziła dzieciństwo i wczesną młodość. Urodziła się w Mediolanie. Studia orientalistyczne oraz na filologii włoskiej na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim, były dla niej pierwszym naturalnym wyborem po powrocie do Polski w latach 80. Coraz większa fascynacja sztuką, determinacja i twórcza pasja doprowadziły ją do podjęcia studiów na ASP. Tworzy akty kobiece i rzeźbę abstrakcyjną. Materiałem z wyboru jest kamień, którego technologię poznaje na międzynarodowych stażach i sympozjach rzeźbiarskich w całej Europie, często we Włoszech, w Carrarze. Zapiski i automentarze na temat własnej twórczości towarzyszą jej od czasu studiów. Poetycka forma i niezwykła intymność autobiograficznej narracji dają rzadki w literaturze polskiej zapis twórczej samoświadomości i kobiecego doświadczenia.
Sculptor and writer, Monika Osiecka is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where she belonged to the studio of Grzegorz Kowalski, the famous Kowalnia. She completed her studies there in 1994. She came to sculpture through a linguistic fascination with the Orient and the culture of Italy, where she spent her childhood and early youth. She was born in Milan. Oriental studies and Italian language and literature at the University of Warsaw were her first, and natural choice when she returned to Poland in the 1980s. An increasing fascination for art, determination, and creative passion led her to enroll at the Academy of Fine Arts. She creates abstract sculptures and female nudes. Her material of choice is stone. She learned to work with stone while on international exchange programs and at sculpture symposiums all over Europe, most frequently in Carrara, Italy. She has been writing notes and commentaries on the subject of her own creativity since her days as a student. The poetic form and the unusual intimacy of her autobiographic narrative offer a record of creative self-awareness and female experience that is unusual in Polish literature.
